To help you make the most of ForKeeps, here are some community guidelines to empower you, allow you to express yourself freely and keep you safe. 

Be respectful

Everyone should feel safe and at ease in the welcoming community of ForKeeps. We want our users to treat others with respect so that we can keep our community a pleasant and healthy place for everyone to enjoy.

We want you to know that we are always here for you. We place a high value in providing excellent customer service, and we go above and beyond for every member of our community. Please don't try to handle a problem on your own if you ever encounter one, whether it's with a product you bought or a fellow community member. Please get in touch with us so that we can assist you in resolving the situation. In the end, it is why we are here. 

What Forkeeps is for

Fashion, Accessories and Books

ForKeeps is a place for fashion, accessories, new personal care products and books. Pre-owned items can be listed on ForKeeps if they are clean and in good condition. However all makeup and personal care products must be new, unswatched, alcohol-free and aerosol-free. Liquid products must be new and in their original sealed packaging. 

Creating Your Listing

1. Creating a listing is quick and easy. That's why we encourage you to take those extra steps to showcase your style and get creative with your poster shot. 
2. We find that styling or modeling your item helps the item sell much more quickly, as opposed to when it's just on a hanger. The item should be clearly represented in the main photo. 
3. Avoid post-editing techniques that take away from highlighting the item such as collages or heavy special effects. We also ask that you do not use any photos in your listing that you did not take or get the permission to use. 
4. Original images are essential. Good photography will help your item sell faster. Only use images that you own and  therefore have the right to post. Stock imagery or footage is not permitted – learn more here.
5. Using keywords and tags may feel like the best way to get items sold – but irrelevant hashtags mean your item won’t show up in search results. This means there’s a lower chance of them being seen and selling. 

Packaging 

ForKeeps considers packaging as one important part of the whole buying experience. Just as the food presentation on your dinner plate makes the food more appealing, nicely presented sales can be more pleasing to a buyer. 

Think of this as your chance to show your buyer what your closet is about, whether you’re just starting out, or building a brand of your own on ForKeeps. From a functional point of view, it’s also a good idea to make sure your packaging is neat, it protects your item and ensures it arrives at its destination in one piece.

Being a Trustworthy Seller 

One of the best things about ForKeeps is that listing is completely free. When creating a listing, please be honest in describing your item and disclose as much information as possible. Take care to be thorough and accurate about details such as the condition, size, price and include photos that demonstrate condition when necessary. This way, buyers know exactly what it is that they are getting and the risk of a dispute is decreased. 

Being a Good Buyer

Once you receive your item, please review your purchase within 24hrs after delivery. Make sure your items are complete and as described. Don’t forget to leave a feedback and rate the seller after you receive your item.

Listing and Photo Rights

Make sure that you have the rights to sell any items you list on ForKeeps. Don't list anything that does not belong to you or that may violate any state or federal laws. Do not upload any images that you didn't take, that are of other people without their permission, or that you do not have the rights to use. 

What Forkeeps is not for

Bullying and harassment

We love our ForKeeps community and champion equality and individuality. However, one thing we won't tolerate is discrimination, harassment or abuse of any kind. This includes harmful or offensive comments on gender, race, ethnicity, background, religion, sexual orientation or disability.
We aim to keep the app safe, inclusive and respectful. The app has no place for bullying, harassment, body shaming, threatening messages or sexual advances. We take a zero tolerance approach to any of this kind of behaviour.

Accounts promoting, encouraging or distributing sexually explicit or pornographic content will be banned. In addition, users engaging in hate speech, abuse, harassment, inappropriate messages or requests will be taken action against. If you come across any of this behaviour, report them to us by clicking the three dots (...) at the top right of their profile and selecting Report. We’ll step in and deal with it for you. If you see someone else being subjected to this behaviour, please encourage them to report the user.

Threats of violence 

1. Much like harassment, we have zero tolerance for threats of violence towards another user. This can include death threats, scare tactics and hate speech. 
2. Don’t use someone’s personal details to threaten them, or share these details publicly in any situation. 
3. We don’t allow the promotion of self-harm, including self-injury or eating disorders. If you’re seeking help, please get in touch with someone from the Support Team at ForKeeps.
   
   

Spamming 

Don’t spam. This includes writing multiple comments on other users’ items or sending multiple messages asking users to buy. This can result in your account being suspended.

Soliciting Donations 

Are you saving up for those designer shoes? Raising money for school? Need extra money for recovery? No matter the cause, all community members are welcome to sell their clothing, accessories, and books for any reason they choose. However, ForKeeps is not the place to ask for or otherwise solicit monetary or physical donations of any kind either through our platform or by advertising a third party site.

Non-Fashion and Accessories Items 

Please don't buy or sell any goods or services through ForKeeps other than fashion, accessories, new personal care products and books. We will remove any illegal items and sellers associated with items such as drugs, weapons and counterfeit (fake) items. You can see all our prohibited items here.

Taking Transactions or Conversation Off the Forkeeps Platform 

1. If a user suggests you can get an item cheaper or faster by paying out of the app – say no. You could end up without the item and the money you sent. 
2. Payments are 100% secure for both buyers and sellers when transacting inside the app, via our buy button.
3. 'Avoiding the ForKeeps fee' is a bad suggestion for both users. It means we can’t help you if something goes wrong.
   
   

Penalties 

Should we find your account to be in violation of any of the above, we may send you an email or take permanent or temporary action on your account privileges.

Found something you think doesn’t meet these guidelines? Report them to us. Click on the 3 dots (...) at the top right of a listing or user profile. We review every report and will always take the appropriate action.
